You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream...or too young C S Lewis... or too young 😎

How weird is it that (some) kids get told to stop daydreaming yet, as adults, we’re told if we can think it we can do it and actively encouraged to visualise our goals?!...go figure?!?

I reckon we should all consider ourselves too young and not yet old enough to give up dreaming, to quit exploring our worlds and our own path...and I’m reminding myself of this with just 22 days to go until I’m off to the @beargryllssurvivalacademy for their instructor training course ; it’s perfectly normal for a nearly #40yearsyoung mum to challenge herself in such a way...right?! 👩‍👧🥾🏕❤️

Giving a TEDx talk to 1,500 people can be pretty scary believe me! At times during this talk, I split into three.
.
There was the ‘me’ standing on stage and speaking, then there was the ‘me’ watching me speak, helping the first ‘me’ keep a clear head, and then there was the third ‘me’ the wise one who took charge of the situation when the other two lost their place, forgot their words.
.
It was similar to when I have been in physically dangerous situations, when time stood still and my superhuman strength and judgement kicked in. .
We all have these skills, we are all amazing!
.
Sometimes we just get too comfortable and forget what we can actually achieve when we put ourselves out there! .

Wow! What a fabulous weekend of winter walking in #Snowdonia with @explorersconnect! 💙
.
We hiked 16.5kms the first day and 9.5kms the second, in full winter conditions. Everyone in the group gave it their all and most certainly got a taste of winter walking on and amongst some of the finest mountains in Wales!

🌪STORM ON EVEREST🌪

It’s a surreal feeling knowing you are the two highest people on the planet.
•
As I savoured the view on the summit of Everest and tried to photographically record the experience in the camera of my mind, the views, the smells, the colours, my emotions, the blue sky started to give way to dark clouds and howling wind.Party over, time to go!
•
Coming down is a mixed bag of emotions. Of course I felt ecstatic I had made it to the summit but this excitement has to be stored away in a box labelled ‘Drink champagne & dance on the tables later’. Now was time to focus and get off this fierce lump of rock and ice in one piece. A storm was brewing.
•
There is no helicopter rescue on the north side of Everest due to strictly controlled air space. This makes the whole climb slightly more challenging as even a sprained ankle could be disastrous.
•
As we summited later in the day than most, a planned strategy as an agile two-climber team to avoid the queues, we hoped to get back down to the North Col by dark. Ordinarily this would have been possible with our pace but Mother Nature had other ideas. The wind turned angry. In fact, I’ve never experienced wind like it. It was aggressive and bitterly cold.
•
I quickened my pace a little but was mindful that I didn’t want to catch a crampon and take a fall or get blown over! We were the only two climbers up there.
•
It took us a few hours battling to stay upright to get down to Camp 3 (8300m), an inhospitable and exposed campsite, not to mention the uncomfortable altitude. By now the winds were not stopping for anyone, Mother Nature had gone from 0 to 600 in three seconds. Miraculously our tent was still standing from when we had left it many hours before, we crawled in, exhausted and we waited.
•
12 hours later the winds showed no sign of relenting. I can honestly say it was the scariest night of my life. I felt like a sitting duck who was about to be picked up and spat out over the edge of the mountain in my ripstock yellow coffin.
•
The next morning my fears were confirmed....😱💨🏔 #everesteveryday #thinkbigdreambigger

👊 SUMMIT PUSH 👊

Pitching up a tent normally is no big deal but throw in a generous slice of a 45 deg angle, ample table spoons of 8000m, stir in howling winds and a few rocks for good measure and it becomes a bit more challenging!
•
Let me introduce you to Camp 3 on the north side of Everest. She’s tall, striking and aloof, standing at 8,300m. She has piercing blue eyes that can quickly turn to grey, she whispers gently but can deafen you with her howl, she is a steely host and not remotely interested in her guests. Her outlook is spectacular but she is alone, she is remote and she is cold.
•
Jangbu and I may have outstayed our welcome on the way up as we stayed in Camp 3 for an extra six hours after the two teams in front of us had made a push for the summit. This was a strategic move on our part to avoid the queues up to the summit. As a two man team we were independent and agile, the masters of our own destiny’s. We tried to rest and put some warm food in our bellies ready for the long slog to the summit many hours away. It was dark and bitterly cold inside our tent, I shivered as I prepared my equipment, there was an excitement in the air...
•
I perched in the vestibule, mindful of the steep incline we were perched on, clipped myself into the fixed rope, put my crampons on, stood up and hauled my heavy pack on to my back. I immediately felt the weight of the thirteen kilograms sink into my shoulders. I tightened my waist band to take some of the weight. My pack contained two oxygen tanks, weighing 4 kilos a piece, three litres of water and some extra layers and snacks. This was a heavy pack but light in comparison to Jungbu’s which I could barely lift!
•
The stars glistened against the night sky. It felt like you could reach out and touch them we were that close. There was a string of flickering lights much further up the mountain, moving slowly. These were the headlamps of the Indian and Chinese teams that were ahead of us. It was 3am, we started moving.

More to come on what lay ahead... ❤️🏔

🖤 LIFE & DEATH 🖤

Nothing prepared me for stepping over the dead on Everest.
•
It’s well known that many have perished on this mountain trying to reach the summit, (over 200 in fact) and this was confirmed when I saw rows of memorials at Base Camp. It’s pretty sobering how many there were...
•
As I’m climbing to Camp 3 at 8300m on the north side, the final campsite before the summit, I’m settled into a rhythm, making good progress up the last steep slope, one step at a time, listening to my tunes.
•
In my peripheral, I glimpsed a dark patch in the snow. I glanced to my right to see a body lying there, still attached to the rope I was on. I paused. I looked again.
•
Questions started darting around in my mind... why are they lying there? Why aren’t they moving? Do they need help?
•
I looked up the rope to see my climbing partner, Jangbu, sitting on the steep slope, looking straight at me. I sensed an energy shift in him, my world became a little more silent as the realisation that this climber was dead hit me. His boots, down suit, ice axe, and backpack looked new. I couldn’t look away, I stared for what felt like an eternity.
•
More questions pop into my head... Who is it? Where are they from? Were they climbing alone?
•
I later learnt this climber was an Australian man who had died the day before. I climbed a step or two higher, eyes fixated on him, thinking or hoping he might move an arm or his head or something... I stopped again to draw breath, trying to quieten my mind.
•
Stepping over this body had a profound effect on me. It kept going round in my head that this climber would more than likely be left there... forever.
•
It also served as a stark reminder of how fine the line between life and death was in this unforgiving place.

This was the first of a few perished climbers I saw on my way to the summit.

💙ON TOP OF THE WORLD💙

There is no better place than the summit of Everest for a spot of reflection!
•
Last year on May 22nd I sat on the summit for 30 mins with my climbing partner. We had the summit to ourselves, a very rare privilege!
•
I sat down, buzzing, trying to take it all in, trying to savour and imprint this picture in my mind. It was a long slog getting to this point, with an endurance of 47 days on the mountain above 5000m the whole time. I felt a mixture of emotions, I felt ecstatic, exhausted, optimistic and a bit sensible too. I was very conscious that I was only half way!
•
Getting down is always a dangerous part of any climb as you have to keep your wits about you. No time for popping open the bubbles just yet, it’s a long way down.
•
It was a wonderful bluebird day, with a calm and a stillness. Quite in contrast to the day before and indeed a few hours later, when the storms raged.
•
It was a view I will never forgot. Looking down on peaks that you know are big boys is quite surreal. Tracing my steps back to base camp and marvelling at just how far away it looked and imagining how quickly I could get back down with a magical zip line! Thinking about the people who have lost their lives trying to get to this very spot, sometimes through no fault of their own.
•
Grey clouds started to appear to my right, a sure sign it was time to wrap this party up and start heading back down.....
•
More to come on my challenging descent, battling through ferocious winds and an unexpected pit stop on the way...

🙏 MOUNTAINS 🙏

As I trek through the mountains, my mind wanders off in a day dream. I inhale the fresh but chilly mountain air! I always feel an immense sense of freedom in these vast open expanses. I start wondering if everyone experiences these feelings of excitement and wanderlust in the mountains? Then it dawns on me that the mountains probably mean many different things to each and every individual that encounters them.
•
I spend several weeks a year in this often harsh environment and pick my months wisely. Imagine what it’s like to live here year round, enduring the harsh realities on a daily basis.
•
Being reliant on ever changing weather patterns to determine the quality of your harvest, relying on animals over machinery for farming and cutting steep hillside terrain into terraces to make space for new crops. And for many animals, this is home too. They face similar challenges of foraging for food to feed their families and enduring below freezing temperatures.
•
Then I start thinking about the mountains as a workplace. For guides and porters, this is the view from their office window. I start wondering if they still admire the beauty of the place or does that fade and become commonplace? For yaks, horses and donkeys this is a tough place, carrying back breaking loads up and down steep terrain like lorries on a highway and the crack of the bosses whip if they falter.
•
For some, like me, the mountains are a spectacular playground. They present endless possibilities for adventure.
•
For others, the mountains are a retreat, a place to relax and rejuvenate. A place of worship for some. Before each climb we have a Puja ceremony asking the mountain gods for our safe passage.
•
Let’s not forget, the mountains can quickly become hell on Earth, especially when natural disaster strikes. When Mother Nature rolls up her sleeves and reveals her toned muscles, she lets us know how inferior we are. The mountains demand respect at the highest level.

What do the mountains mean to you? ❤️🏔🙏

I spend several weeks a year in this often harsh environment and pick my months wisely. Imagine what it’s like to live here year round, enduring the harsh realities on a daily basis.

For some, like me, the mountains are a spectacular playground. They present endless possibilities for adventure.

For others, the mountains are a retreat, a place to relax and rejuvenate. A place of worship for some. Before each climb we have a Puja ceremony asking the mountain gods for our safe passage.

Let’s not forget, the mountains can quickly become hell on Earth, especially when natural disaster strikes. When Mother Nature rolls up her sleeves and reveals her toned muscles, she lets us know how inferior we are. The mountains demand respect at the highest level.

🇳🇵IMPROMPTU & AUTHENTIC🇳🇵 Last night I found myself at an 11th birthday party, Nepalise style, in a remote hillside home. It was my favourite evening of the trip so far as I was treated to an evening of true Nepalise culture at its finest.
•
We drank beers around the fire, ate cake and sang Nepalise songs (well I just hummed along!) as well as sang Happy Birthday at least a dozen times, just to refine our harmonies! I asked the gaggle of excited and curious children of all different ages what they wanted to do when they were older and I got an expansive array of answers including “scientist”, “pilot”, “doctor”, “nurse”. I love the spirit that lives in children. These children have little more than the clothes on their back but they are clearly thinking big and dreaming bigger. And who knows, maybe one day they will achieve their goals. 👊
•
They asked for chocolate in perfect English but I could only oblige with three tubes of polos which seemed to do the trick! 🤣
•
I was intrigued by the guests which probably meant I was staring a little! The host was a lean man, with sunken cheekbones, and turned out he was a sheep farmer and had invited his sheep farmers mates along too. 🐑 They were friendly but reserved and spoke no English so I could only communicate with the universal language of smiling and using Shera as a translator. One man looked like he’d just stepped clean out of a western movie, with his long straight black hair, big bushy sideburns, trousers that resembled baggy breaches tucked into full length black leather boots. They ate mutton ‘sucadee’ which is like jerky, their hands dripping in juice and oil. I was observing a testosterone fuelled sheep farmer’s meat feast! I asked Shera what they were talking about and he simply said “how to make more efficient compost out of sheep poop!”. Oh right, I wasn’t missing much then!!! This morning I was greeted early with “Good morning, do you have any chocolate”. “Non.”

Join me in Nepal in November 2019, see @trekaneering for details. 👏

🏔SCOPING OUT NEW TRAILS 🏔
•
I can’t tell you how good it feels to be back in Nepal, scoping out new trails in the Annapurna region. This has to be one of my favourite places on Earth! The jaw dropping mountain scenery next to lush green farmland and forests makes my heart sing! •
This trip is particularly exciting as I’m trying out a new trek for Shera & I to add to our @trekaneering list of adventures next year.
•
We are on the Mardi Himal trek, a less populated option to it’s bustling neighbour trek on the Annapurna Circuit. It’s day one, we started in Phedi and have trekked for four hours through quaint villages perched on the hillsides, with accents of turquoise and red popping up. •
We are now in Pothana, a tiny village and our tea house is painted in pale pink and turquoise, nestled in the hillside. It’s a relief to have a hot shower after some sweaty hill walking and step climbing! •
Tomorrow we will head to the Forest Camp (2600m) which will see us trekking in denser rainforest before transferring into mountainous terrain on day 3, leading up to Mardi Himal Base Camp at 4500m.
•
This trek is accessible time wise as it takes a little over a week, perfect for the time conscious trekker.
•
I will keep you posted each day of this trek and details of our 2019 treks here will be available shortly online.

🏕REMOTE SHERPA VILLAGE TREK •
Join Everest Summiteer, @hollybudge and Shera Sherpa in November 2019 on this very special & authentic expedition visiting Shera’s family home; It is in one of the remotest villages in Eastern Nepal where few tourists have been before. •
A hidden gem, among many, is the spectacular views of Mount Everest from a remote hilltop. We will meander through dramatic hillside farmland glimpsing into a world of beauty, sometimes hardship, resilience and warmth.
•
The trail is hilly and at times on loose rocky terrain so you do need to have a reasonable level of fitness. You don't need lots of trekking experience, just an open mind! •
Very limited spaces. PM for more details.

Post nights wandering in the sunshine listening to @she_explores and resonating with so many things that Hiranya said about being a woman in the outdoors. Especially the way that doing things alone gives you agency.. I’m tired of narratives about charging up mountains and conquering trails - I want to both hear and talk about the story behind the doing. The people we meet, the way we interact with the landscapes we temporarily borrow and the effect this has on us. Maybe this is an important part of the female voice in adventure?
And who knows what constitutes an adventure?! 🤷‍♀️ _____________________________________________________________

We travelled a fair way from the north coast of Spain down to near Lindoso in the National Park of Peneda-Garerês, north Portugal in one day. This was a sort of dusty alpine area, with reservoirs, pine trees and cows with terrific horns. We parked down a track that got narrower and narrower, getting more and more over grown with yellow gorse and purple heather. The trees on either side were perfectly spaced to set up a hammock.

In Cabrales there is an impressive gorge that goes up a valley between pillars of mountains. There was a little building that caught my attention across the valley, which lead me to notice people taking the path to it and further on up. I decided to go the path to see what it would look like from there and I could see the top of a stone bridge crossing the river, so went closer. Once I was there I realised there was a scramble down to the river bank below the bridge. I went down and was so pleased to find a totally different view that was hidden from where I originally stood.
It made me think about why I like this way of travel. I love to explore and to find hidden gems off the beaten track. To take time and effort to seek out beauty and new perspectives. I want to know more, I want to see what many people pass by. I want to look harder, to spend more time. I want to see what is under, what is beyond, what is over, to see where the water comes from, what it flows through, where is going. I want to get to the roots, then to the top.
If I hadn’t gone further, I wouldn’t have seen the beautiful plants trailing down from the rocks towards the water below. I wouldn’t have see how it worked with the chapel shaped arch of the bridge to frame the mountains behind. I wouldn’t have enjoyed the small apples on the river bank.

This then made me think about travelling to learn about cultures and people I come across on my journey. I want to take time and effort within my capability to learn more about people, about their ideas, their way of living, find out their roots, where they have come from, what path they are on, what has influenced them and to see things from their perspective, to help me to understand them and connect with them as a fellow human being living in this world together.

In Cabrales we got a train through a mountain to have a walk higher up. On the end of the train was space to put cargo. A load of hay too the ride up to the tiny village with us.
It was a picturesque little place with a church, a restaurant, a couple of cafes, a bar and a few houses. It seemed quite out of the way to live, but I guess the train helps bring business and keeps the place connected to the mountain roads.

On our first night in the van on our trip, we parked up in the village of Sotres to sleep up in the mountains. There was another British couple there in their van, so it was nice to chat, share plans and apologise for Elana’s potential crying!
Sotres is a sleepy little village with a few walkers staying in a couple of tiny hotels or rather guest houses and a couple of pubs. And there was a goat cheese museum.
I love the sweetly scented smoke from wood burning fires in the village homes in mountain areas, it reminds me of mountains we have stayed at around the world where there is a slightly different smell to the smoke, also the thoughts of wrapping up warm for an autumnal walk, then nesting in a cosy cottage fill my mind.

I’m not sure why I haven’t heard of Los Picos do Europa before visiting Spain. It is a beautiful National Park with incredible mountains.

I crave mountains. I feel a need to go visit some at least once a year. The height, the birds eye views of the earth below, the clarity in the air, the serenity, the feeling of being so small, so tender and fleeting next to such deeply rooted, sky piercing, mighty giants.

Oh crumbs, I’ve just realised I’ve been very remiss in not thanking @findraclothing for their incredibly generous prize for my talk at the Women’s Adventure Expo on Saturday! ⚡️✨ The winner - @ipsewilderness - won a fabulous neckwarmer - swipe for pics! - and a goody bag of treats! Twenty-four hour ferry. Instatravel pics look great, but they don’t always tell of the difficult parts, that can be so off putting. It started off so well - calm seas and off to sleep. Even the four hour delay wasn’t a problem, we saw our friends on the motorway so stopped for lunch with them, then explored the seafront at Plymouth.
The second half was not so easy going. We had rough seas for the rest of the journey. It was like turbulence on a plane but for eight hours. I haven’t really got sea sick before. Usually I look out the window or go out on deck, but it was too wet and not a good idea with a toddler to hold on to.
I tried to sleep while Elana napped and when Dan came to see us, Elana was still sleeping so told him to go so he wouldn’t disturb her. Too late. She woke up. I got up to get Dan back and realised I felt too sick to walk further than a couple of meters, and Dan was gone. I waited hoping Dan would come back and check again. An hour went by and I could just make it a couple of meters off the bed to the bathroom, but ended up stuck on the toilet sweating and shaking, trying to not be sick or faint, while trying to prevent Elana falling out the bathroom door or poking the toilet brush. Back to being stuck in bed, unable to sit up, trying to entertain Elana, wondering how to feed Elana without it making me sick and trying to stop her from getting upset or falling off things she was climbing up. Two more hours and I was wondering what had happened to Dan. I could attempt to go and look for him, but I’d have to search two floors of the ship, navigate stairs, hold on to Elana, meanwhile only being able to stagger about three, maybe four meters before having to drop to the floor to lay down and recover for a few minutes to make sure I wouldn’t collapse or my stomach doesn’t empty over Elana. There was no way of calling anyone and Dan hadn’t paid for the ship’s WiFi. Thankfully I found a scrap of bread from breakfast in my bag so that kept Elana going and I eventually got back to the bathroom to give her some water.
After 5 hours since Dan checked us and 40 minutes before docking, Dan turned up again to get Elana some dinner! Not impressed.(cont..👇🏻)

“It’s not where you go, it’s who you meet along the way” The Wizard of Oz ✨✨ One of the most uplifting & lasting memories of my weekend in Bristol was the joy of women coming together to inspire, cheer and encourage each other towards their dreams. 💗💛✨ It was so evident @waexpo & at the @shextreme Film School on Thursday & Film Festival on Friday @locoklub.
Spending time with these brilliant Twitter & Instagram friends in real life was such a joy: Kathryn @love_movement_sussex who had kindly interviewed me for her podcast in the summer, Cath @cathadventure who won the Poetry Competition & Danielle of @finditfilm who filmed me for her #findingempowerment series on the river on Friday. Her film of @georgiia_pilkington (swipe & in the pic) opened the festival and is wonderful - I highly recommend you seek it out - especially if you like climbing! 🧗🏻‍♀️ Mothers, adventurers, filmmakers, poets, dreamers, podcasters, friends, writers, cheerleaders.... a complete joy. 😊

Congrats to @boarderswithoutborders_ for winning the Audience Choice Film - a Film about their awesome longboarding (a type of skateboard) community. ✨

Have a great day! What do you have planned? Jo x

What a weekend!
Saturday saw me speak at my ultimate favourite women’s adventure event, Women’s Adventure Expo.
Super proud to have been at this event 2 years ago listening to so many incredible women talking adventure and supporting each other, to come back this year as a main stage speaker alongside women who have and are changing the way the world thinks and tackling real-life global issues, as well as leading the way in women’s adventure and exploration.
Such a brilliant day and so powerful sharing stories and inspiring each other to Live an Adventure Beyond Barriers.
Huge thanks to @waexpo for having me speak, @annamcnuff for being as the hostess with the mostess & amazeballs as ever, and to all the wonderful wild women I met and chatted to, and for your lovely words, who have equally inspired me and leaving such a positive impact.
~
If you could harness the power in that room.. just imagine what we are capable of...

The last 2 days were pretty cool! I took a flight down to Bristol to surround myself with inspiration and motivation at the @waexpo 🌍✨
•
Friday’s talks and workshops were centred around how the outdoors and adventure can benefit our wellbeing and mental health (if you don’t already know that have you been under a rock?) It was incredible to hear from some charities, projects and researchers about the success stories and the statistics that prove this ♥️
•
I then camped with 13 strangers on Friday night courtesy of @ipsewilderness. We spent the evening enjoying the freedom and tranquility of the outdoors and it was such a beautiful evening of calm and tranquility 🏕
•
On Saturday there were talks from a number of adventurous women telling the stories of their solo travels, overcoming barriers, conservation and the epic expeditions they have been involved in 🌍👣
•
It’s safe to say my head and my heart are now full of adventurous plans and dreams and to top it off I met so many wonderful humans who all have similar ambitions! Marie from @threepeaksafrica is already joining myself and @yugenexplore at the end of this month for the Aviemore Aviemore Weekend so it was lovely to meet her. If you’re at all interest in climbing some incredible mountains in Africa (including Kilimanjaro) then check her out because she’s super passionate and if anyone can get you there, she can!! 👣
•
It felt truly special to have my name hanging from my lanyard with ‘Iona’s Adventures’ written below it 🌍👣 Others had the names of their businesses and their organisations. I was in 2 minds when registering as to whether or not I should add in the name of my walking group and I thought ‘hell YEAH when will I get the chance again to do this?!’ I’m so glad I did because I loved being able to describe the wonderful wee community I feel like I’m creating ✨
•
Moral of the story: adventure will make your heart happy. I promise ♥️ 📸 @fritfilms .

Adventures can have many faces. They can be big expeditons, day trips or last just for couple of hours. The length is not important. The common nominator is that we indulge ourselves to something new where we are not sure how this will go or end. The uncertainty is so exciting! Adventures allow us to explore, try new things, learn and grow. My adventurous weekend in Bristol is now over but my head is full of new information and inspiration. I met many amazing women during the Women Adventure Expo and SheExtreme and got to know Bristol - such an amazing city! I will definitely come back! 🤩

After two intensely inspiring days at The Women’s Adventure Expo and a presenting on the topic of Inhibiting Fear, I needed a good 3 hour dose of this today to digest it all. Gently jogging round my home territory - there’s nothing like it for clearing the mind. #waexpo #outdoor #findyourwild #nature #runningmotivation #headspace

What a pleasure it was to photograph @waexpo yesterday! I'm still buzzing from all the incredible talks I heard of local and far-flung adventures, from women of all ages and backgrounds.
.
It's certainly made me think again about the coverage of diverse representation, how to make everyone feel that the outdoors is for them, and why I can't pull off a cycling cap as well as @annamcnuff 🤔

Checking out the purchases I've returned with from the Women's Adventure Expo. It feels like Christmas already! I'm so excited to have these gems in my new reading line-up. This said, I feel I've come back with so much more than just four books... what a wonderful community. Great connections with some flippin' amazing women. Thank you WAEXPO! .

Wow! To post a pic with “Speaker at the Women’s Adventure Expo” is a dream come true. 💛 I feel so honoured & grateful to have had the opportunity to share the joy my tiny adventures in the waves & hills bring to my life to such an extraordinary audience yesterday. 🧜‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏄‍♀️🌊 I have a train to catch so I will share more in a longer blog about the other amazing speakers & what I learned from @waexpo. It was a truly inspiring day! 💙⛺️🚴‍♀️
🌟
In the meantime, 3 things I took away from my own workshop: 🌟
1) there is a real thirst for tiny adventures that we can all do in our busy every day lives, so let’s keep sharing our experiences & tips... One lady very kindly took the time in the Q & A to thank me for talking about “accessible” adventures. 💛
🌟
2) the power of women together to support & cheerlead each other is huge. 🌟 Collaborating is the extra fuel that will rocket us to our own dreams. 🚀 🌟
3) sometimes the things that break you in life & bring you to your knees, can, with time, healing, love, books & moving in nature, be exactly the things that give you wings to fly ... and help others fly too. 💛
Thank you to everyone who came to my workshop & to Bex & Tania for inviting me to be part of such an amazing @waexpo!
Have a fab day! I’ll be on a train most of the day, what do you have planned? Jo xx 😊🧜‍♀️🏄‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️🚯♻️ .

Leaving the Women Adventure Expo tonight I feel so inspired by all the amazing women all around. The energy, the empowerment, the feeling of passion and inclusion which we created during the day will resonate in me for a long time. I feel so recharged and can't wait to new adventures after I heard all the great stories from every single woman I met and talked to. Sharing is caring and that was really felt during this day. @waexpo, you are creating an amazing community here and I am so grateful I could be part of it!

“Forget about the fast lane. If you really want to fly, just harness your power to your passion” @oprah 🌟🎬 Wow! What an incredible evening in Bristol at @shextreme Film School. 🎥 Four Masterclasses In Adventure filmmaking, storytelling & being persistent about making your project happen. 🎬

We watched some extraordinary films & heard the stories & process behind them.... about climbing, surfing, cycling, skateboarding & a snippet of the fab @woman_with_altitude amazing history adventure in the mountains 🏔 .
As I listened to Elise Wicker talk about her work for the BBC, her brilliant film about @ayesuppose & a series on sportswomen in 2016 in the run up to the Olympics, I realised she had made a short film about a Brazilian surfer Silvana Lima that I had watched & loved. It’s so interesting & had 5 million views. I would really recommend it. 🌊

Thank you @shextreme @neonstash @hotachesproductions @sianannalewis & Elise Wicker for a wonderful evening. So great to see @shimnixfilms again too! 😊🎥🎬 Do you have a favourite adventure-y film? If you could make one, what story or adventure would you share? 🌟

Have a fab Friday!Jo xx 🎥

“Bristol yogis, adventure gals- @waexpo attendees- i’m so excited to be teaching yoga at this years Women’s Adventure Expo 2018! I’ll be kicking off the main day event THIS SATURDAY the 6th October at a delightful time of 8.45am with an energising morning flow class- ALL ABILITIES AND LEVELS WELCOME! It’s only a short class but we will breathe fully and flow and rest and finishing before the main speakers of the day begin. It’s first come, first serve- on the 1st floor of @wethecurious_ please arrive by 8.35am to sign in 🤸🏽‍♀️ and Infact, to say i’m excited is an understatement. It’s an incredible priveledge to be teaching yoga under the same roof that will be seeing the likes of @easkeysurf @annamcnuff @sarahoutdoors kate rawles and sacha dench (to name a few) sharing thier inspiring stories and adventures throughout the event. There’s also an #adventurequeens brekkie at the same time as yoga if coffee and networking are more your thang and also the @shextreme film screening and wellbeing day with @freedomofmindcic on the friday 5th at The Watershed, then the main event on saturday 6th followed by the day of activities sunday 7th.
I attended last year to cover the online content for @boundlessbetty and i’m so happy to be returning; teaming up once again with Boundless who are sponsoring the yoga class. Huge love to Jen you Boundless babe for supporting me as always ❤️.”

I want to skateboard through a tunnel, so I looked up the one on the Bristol Bath cycle path and accidentally found some south of Bath.
I went to have a look and it is ideal. So smooth and straight. It was so quiet and dark, it felt surreal. Taking the baord there for a ride on Sunday.
I recorded us exploring and have made it into a video on my IGTV, but here is a little clip.
